Aids & Adaptations

Care & Repair endeavors to provide a wide range of services to our clients to enable them to remain living within their own homes for as long as possible.

In many instances an aid or an adaptation to a persons home can be extremely beneficial and can not only allow a person to remain living in the house they may have occupied for a number of years but can also improve their quality of life.

A close working relationship with Social Services has been developed over the past five years and Care & Repair now has access to a designated Occupational Therapist who is responsible for assessing and progressing the type of aids or adaptations best suited to a persons needs.

The types of issues considered include assisting people who may have problems gaining access to bathing facilities or people who may have mobility problems and can not manage to climb stairs.

Where a major adaptation is required such as the installation of a level access shower or installation of a stair lift Care & Repair can assist in providing access to contractors to carry out the works and also in securing a Disability Improvement Grant towards the cost of the works.

Care & Repair also has a direct referral link to Social Services where a client requires to have a handrail, grab-rail or banister installed.

Care & Repair also provides a Small Aids Service in conjunction with Social Services.

The Small Aids Service provides items of equipment that allow people to maintain their independence within their home. Equipment is available for use to assist in routine tasks of personal care that are taken for granted and include washing, dressing, eating and many others.
