Learning & Development
The HR function places great emphasis on the development of a learning culture within the Association and promotes learning in a variety of ways. HR practices applied within the Association influence performance through enhancing individual and team-based skills, fostering motivation and developing activities to encourage employee participation.
The Association’s Corporate Plan highlights training and development as key to the success of the organisation. There are development opportunities for all within the organisation and this is evident through staff being encouraged to manage their own learning and development.
The Personal Focus Plan, the Association’s staff appraisal system, is designed and operated as a development led process and incorporates self-assessment, this is one way that people are encouraged to engage in the process of learning and skills development. With a view to continuous improvement, we are currently reviewing this process to ensure that it continues to deliver benefits for both individuals and the organisation.
The principle of learning is embedded in the corporate culture and managers take a positive and supportive role towards the development of their staff. This is actively happening as can be demonstrated by the number of our staff who are currently attending or have recently completed further education, professional studies or personal development courses.
