Cunninghame Housing Association is an award winning social enterprise differentiated from our competitors by our deliberate strategy to look at the bigger picture rather than just our traditional bricks and mortar business.

Michael Lynch Centre Staff

Until 1996 Cunninghame Housing Association operated as a traditional housing association – building and managing houses. Since then we have grown another side to our business – a portfolio of community regeneration initiatives which have contributed significantly not only to the profile of the Association but to local communities.

Our Community Regeneration programme has contributed to the regeneration of local communities by:

  • Using our capital funding and property development expertise to build important new community facilities.
  • Altering how we managed our mainstream housing activities to create training and employment opportunities for local unemployed people
  • Providing direct financial assistance to community organisation
  • Committing staff time to mentor the development of community businesses
  • Supporting the development of local social enterprises
  • Piloting innovative new approaches to working with disadvantaged groups
  • Encouraging enterprise initiatives within local schools
  • Committing and acquiring substantial resources to these programme, levering significant new investment into disadvantaged communities

Our commitment to community regeneration within local communities has been recognized by a number of awards;

  • Scottish Business in the Community Inspiration Award for Small Businesses 2006
  • Scottish Business in the Community Jubilee Award 2007
  • Chartered Institute of Housing Outstanding Achievement in Housing in Scotland 2007
