Vineburgh Regeneration
North Ayrshire Council commissioned Austin-Smith: Lord LLP in 2006, to undertake the preparation of a Regeneration Masterplan for a local community within the Vineburgh area of North Irvine. You can view some images of the Vineburgh development on the Vineburgh, Irvine page of Pipeline Programme.
The Masterplan outlines a number of proposals for the area, involving a programme of demolition and new build with the overall aim of regenerating the local community.
The Masterplan sets out a detailed regeneration programme for the Vineburgh area, involving the demolition of 308 properties and the construction of 306 new build houses.
Cunninghame Housing Association were appointed in 2007 by North Ayrshire Council’s Housing Services to undertake the redevelopment of the Housing for Rent and Homestake. Through the bid submitted to attain lead developer status for Vineburgh, CHA committed itself to securing maximum training and employment opportunities from the housing investment in the local area.
Training and Employment Opportunities
In 2007/208 we will be working actively with our development partners, the Wise Group, to identify a number of potential programmes which fit with the scale, longevity and nature of the planned housing investment programme; opportunities afforded by European and other local regeneration funding sources; and the development of effective delivery partnerships.
Early indications are that this work may include the following elements:-
- A Jobs from Construction programme, working closely with local contractors
- A Modern Apprenticeship programmes in construction and housing management
- An
Environmental Contracts programme
- A Resident
Services programme, focused on creating jobs and training from ongoing estate management and maintenance activity.
