Day 2 of Challenge Poverty Week is about highlighting the importance of better jobs, fair pay, good working conditions, and ensuring workers’ voices are heard. At the CHA group of companies, we believe secure and rewarding work is one of the strongest ways to tackle poverty and build stronger communities. That’s why we’re proud of the steps we’ve taken – and continue to take – to support our staff.
In April 2023, we became an accredited Living Wage Employer, guaranteeing that all 163 of our staff are paid fairly for the work they do.
We’re committed to opening doors for the next generation. Right now, we have:
- 2 apprentices in our Direct Works team,
- A finance placement through the NAC Equal Programme,
- 4 funded placements through the NAC Environmental Skills Academy at CFRC,
- 2 funded placements through the NAC Parental Employability Programme.
Our HR team is working towards achieving the Investors in People Platinum and Investors in Young People awards. We’re also collaborating with Skills Development Scotland and other partners to encourage young people into the workplace.
Better jobs mean better lives. By paying fair wages, offering opportunities for skills and growth, and listening to our staff, we’re doing our part to build a fairer work place.
