ANTI-SOCIAL BEHAVIOUR
We consider anti-social behaviour to be actions that cause alarm or distress to others. Criminal activity is also classed as anti-social behaviour. If you experience anti-social behaviour, we encourage you to address this directly with your neighbour in the first instance, if it is safe to do so, as often this can resolve the matter. If the anti-social behaviour relates to criminal behaviour, then you must report this to Police Scotland. We can work with them to take action against the tenant.
If you experience anti-social behaviour, it is helpful to keep a note of what happens and when. You should include:
- dates and times
- what happened and who was involved
- the impact of the incident on you and your household
- any Police reference numbers you have
Despite intervention and support, the case may warrant legal action, which could include:
- Local Council enforcing action against noise and fly tipping
- Anti-social Behaviour Orders (ASBOs)
- A persons tenancy being changed to a Short Scottish Secure Tenancy (can be put in place under certain circumstances if Anti-Social Behaviour persists. This would normally be if an Anti- Social Behaviour order has been granted).

Legal action can take a long time to conclude at court, so it is important to understand that this is not a quick fix to anti-social behaviour, and it is important to keep recording incidents and reporting them as they happen.
RESPECTING OTHERS
Please be respectful in common areas where others may be directly affected by you and your visitors’ behaviour. If you breach the conditions of your Tenancy Agreement, then legal action can be taken against you which may result in you losing your home.
We understand that that pets can bring joy and company to our lives and, in most cases, we would not reject your application to keep a pet. It is important that you fill out the ‘Keep a Pet’ form in the ‘Permissions’ section of our website to let us know you would like to keep a pet. We will normally only give permission for one domestic pet (due to legislation on owning XL Bully dogs, please include your exemption certificate when submitting your application form).
Whilst we insure the buildings, we do not provide contents insurance. We cannot enforce contents insurance but do highly recommend you arrange for your personal items to be covered so that you do not suffer a loss following any theft, flood, fire or accident. Contact your Housing Officer for more details or use a comparison website for competitive quotes.
Please let us know when someone moves into your property as this may affect your benefits, rights to succession or assignation of the tenancy. If you wish someone to take over the tenancy from you (assignation) then you should contact your Housing Officer to discuss this in more detail. You have the right to take in a lodger or sublet your home (provided certain rules are followed) so please contact your Housing Officer or go to our website to make a request for this.
