John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association gave a cheque for £1,000 to the Scottish Association of Flower Arrangement Societies. This will help with the running costs for their Conference which happens twice a year.

The event gives the chance for all flower club members throughout Scotland to come together for friendship, fun and flowers. They share the creative use of flowers through education as well as helping mental health.

John Kelly, Chairperson of CHA commented. “We are delighted to be able to support the Scottish Association of Flower Arrangement Societies Conference. Particularly in recent times where people have suffered isolation due to Covid. The event gives all flower members something positive to focus on and look to better times ahead”.

The funding for SAFAS came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund”. This runs throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022) until the funds are exhausted.

Margaret Strachan, Chairperson of SAFAS said, “SAFAS are so grateful for the generous donation from Cunninghame Housing Association of £1,000. Lockdown showed the benefit to health with flowers/gardens – people who have never appreciated this before certainly do now. We hope to use this money to promote our love of flowers. We also hope to attract new members who have newly discovered and appreciate the joy that flowers can bring”.
