Celebrating Scottish Housing Day 2025 with CHA

On 17 September 2025, Cunninghame Housing joined communities across Scotland to mark Scottish Housing Day. A day that highlights the importance of homes, neighbours, and the communities that make them special.

Today, Wednesday 17 September 2025, CHA’s housing team joined communities all around Scotland to celebrate Scottish Housing Day, a day that highlights the importance of homes, neighbours, and the communities that make them special. This year’s theme is “Good neighbours and communities”, recognising how much our daily lives are shaped not just by our homes, but by the people around us.

Here’s how we celebrated, and why it matters to you.

What We Did at Cunninghame Housing

  • Meet The Street Events
Despite the usual Autumnal weather our housing team braved the wind and rain and hosted “Meet the Street” events in Kilmarnock & Gretna.

  • Longpark, Kilmarnock, East Ayrshire
We hosted a “Meet the Street” event at Longpark, Kilmarnock, in line with this year’s theme – the importance of good neighbours and strong communities. Tenants came along to meet one another, build connections, and chat with their housing team, all while enjoying hot drinks and sweet treats. Afterwards, everyone joined in a litter pick to help keep our local communities clean!

  • Gretna, Dumfries & Galloway
Another “Meet the Street” event took place in Gretna, where neighbours came together to enjoy hot drinks and snacks while also hearing valuable insights from the local Community Safety Team.

  • Scottish Housing Day Event, Glasgow
Two of our Housing Officers, Holly and Chloe, attended a Scottish Housing Day event in Glasgow, where they heard from a variety of speakers on what makes a good neighbourhood and communities great.

Why Good Neighbours & Strong Communities Matter

  • Well-being: Feeling part of a neighbourhood helps reduce loneliness and boosts mental health.

  • Safety & mutual help: Neighbours who look out for each other help make places safer.

  • Better living spaces: Shared responsibility makes communal areas cleaner, better maintained, and more enjoyable.

  • Stronger local voice: When people engage, you get ideas that reflect what tenants really want, not just what might be assumed.

A Big Thank You

A huge thank you to everyone who braved the weather and took part in making Scottish Housing Day 2025 with us memorable. Your energy, ideas, and kindness show what good neighbours do. We’re already looking forward to what we can do together next year.
