1st Stevenston Boys Brigade Award

1st Stevenston Boys Brigade

Centre, Janet Strang, Vice Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association along with voluntary group leaders and some of the 1st Stevenston Boys Brigade.

On Wednesday 2nd March 2022 Janet Strang, Vice Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association, presented a cheque for £298 to the 1st Stevenston voluntary group leaders along with some of the boys of the 1st Stevenston Boys Brigade.

The 1st Stevenston Boys Brigade is a registered charity youth organisation for boys aged between 5 – 18 years old that meet on a weekly basis. The organisation has been running for over 100 years by volunteers. The group gives all local boys who attend an interest and a sense of pride in their community, whilst working towards a variety of badges. The work involved in achieving the badges, provides all of the young boys’ essential life skills such as teamwork, social networking and the ability to learn.

The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association is enabling the group to buy a new laptop. This allows the group to move with the times and carry out everything digital, such as registering all badge work online whilst helping reduce the use of paper.

The funding for the group came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022) until the allocated funding is exhausted.

We are delighted to be supporting the 1st Stevenston Boys Brigade and enabling them to purchase a new laptop. The Association recognises the commitment of the volunteers and a new laptop will benefit everyone saving them time which can be better spent working with the boys as well as giving the boys access to the laptop for projects they may be working on
