All About CHA

Our track record of success and a growth since its registration as a social landlord in late 1984.

All About CHA

Since our registration as a social landlord in 1984, Cunninghame Housing Association has been committed to providing high-quality affordable homes and creating stronger, more vibrant communities across North Ayrshire, East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway.

Today, we are proud of our history and our continued growth as both a Registered Social Landlord and a Social Enterprise. Guided by our Vision, Mission and Values, we are committed to being ‘more than just a landlord’. Alongside our housing services, we have established two successful subsidiary companies — Cunninghame Furniture Recycling Company, formed in 2010, and Citrus Energy, launched in 2013—which help us deliver wider social, environmental and economic benefits.

MORE THAN JUST A LANDLORD…..

Our History

In the early 1980s, Cunninghame District Council recognised the scale of housing disrepair across the Three Towns could not be addressed through local authority resources alone.

At the same time, Ardrossan residents were campaigning for action to revitalise their town centre and improve both housing and commercial properties. Following discussions with local residents, a Steering Group was formed, leading to the registration of Three Towns Housing Association (now CHA).

With a £33,000 grant from the Housing Corporation and support from Queens Cross Housing, CHA worked with Cunninghame District Council to implement housing improvements and repairs across Housing Action Areas in The Three Towns.

…..MAKING OUR COMMUNITIES BETTER PLACES!

Our Future

Our first development began in 1985 with the refurbishment of a tenement in Quay Street, Saltcoats. The completion of eight new flats in Princes Street, Ardrossan marked the start of decades of investment in affordable housing.

Since then, CHA has grown significantly, expanding both the number of homes we provide and the services we deliver.

Today, we are committed to providing quality homes and supporting thriving communities across the three local authority areas we serve. With more than 3,600 homes, we work closely with our tenants, partners and local communities to improve neighbourhoods, deliver services and create places where people are proud to live.
