On Wednesday 7th December 2022 Alan Somerville, Senior Development Officer of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to Frank Davis, a voluntary Director of Annandale Community Transport Services.

Annandale Community Transport Services (ACTS) gives community transport throughout Annandale and Eskdale with their office based in Lockerbie. It was formed due to peoples finding it difficult and expensive to give specific transport for their users’ individual needs. Transport could not always cater for people with needs including disabilities, the elderly and people living in outer areas.

The ACTS is a registered charity which has been running since 1999. It is now run by a Board of voluntary Directors with employed staff members who run operations everyday basis. ACTS offers many services: important transport to hospital appointments; minibus hires for groups. It offers a Travel Club for elderly days out and 2 registered bus services for Carlisle and Peebles. As well as giving minibus driver training for volunteers who wish to contribute to the service.

The money by Cunninghame Housing Association is helping to give all staff members clothes with the Service logo on it. This will help keep them warm and make them more recognisable to members of the public who use the service.

“We are delighted to be supporting Annandale Community Transport who provide an invaluable service to the local community who may otherwise struggle in getting to vital appointments or amenities”.

Lesley Keenan, Chairperson of CHA

The funding for Annandale Community Transport Services came from the Associations “Making Our Communities Better Places Fund”. It runs throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the shared funding is exhausted.
