Brook Neely – a boxer in the making

John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to Brooke Neely. She is a young boxer from Ardrossan, this is part of a 3-year sponsorship.

Brooke who boxes with Irvine Vineburgh Boxing Club, is also a member of the Scotland National Team. She is also the youngest member of the Boxing Scotland Elite Boxing Group. Brooke’s training is split between Irvine Vineburgh and the Boxing Scotland High Performance Centre in Bridgeton, Glasgow. Before Covid-19, Brooke was called by her country to compete at the European Schools Championships in Tblisi, Georgia in 2019.

Despite Covid-19 barriers, Brooke trained home and has been chosen to join elite athletes in Serbia for sparring camp. Brooke’s goal is to compete at the Commonwealth Games 2026 as well as the Olympics.

John Kelly, Chairperson of CHA commented. “We are delighted to be sponsoring Brooke who is a great leader for her sport.”

The funding for Brooke came from the “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund”. This runs throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022)
