On Wednesday 6th October 2021 John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to Allan Paton, Treasurer and Hugh McLanachan, Vice Chairperson of the Mauchline Holy Fair Event.

The Mauchline Holy Fair Event is historically a community event, celebrating the heritage and history of Mauchline. Today, it is now one of the biggest events in East Ayrshire and engenders community spirit and pride in the village and surrounding area.

The event consists of stalls, entertainers, funfairs and much more, with the help of many volunteers on the day itself. The event is arranged by a voluntary committee who in their own time apply for grants/donations and fundraise to ensure the community and anyone attending the Holy Fair enjoys the day.

The funds provided by Cunninghame Housing Association will go towards the cost of hiring 80 market stalls on the day of the event. The voluntary committee are extremely grateful for the financial assistance received from CHA, particularly when they have been limited to fundraising recently due to Covid.

The funding for the Mauchline Holy Fair Event came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022) until the allocated funding is exhausted.

The Mauchline Holy Fair Committee are extremely grateful for the funding received from Cunninghame Housing Association towards the costs of staging the Holy Fair Event. It enables us to continue with the century’s old tradition of the Holy Fair, maintaining links to the past and engaging all age groups in moving the Holy Fair forward into the future.

The generosity shown by Cunninghame Housing Association shows their genuine interest in being involved in the areas that they are working in and very much living up to their ethos of being “More than just a Landlord
