John Kelly, Chair of Cunninghame Housing Association gave a cheque for £1,000 the Mauchline Holy Fair Event.

The Mauchline Holy Fair Event is historically a community event, celebrating the history of Mauchline. It is now one of the biggest events in East Ayrshire, boosts community spirit and pride in the village.

The event has tents, entertainers, funfairs and much more, with the help of many volunteers on the day itself. The event is arranged by a volunteer committee. They in their own time apply for grants/donations and fundraise to make sure the everyone enjoys the Holy Fair.

The funds by Cunninghame Housing Association will go towards the cost of hiring 80 market tents for the event. The volunteer team are extremely thankful for the financial help, they have been limited to fundraising recently due to Covid.

The funds came from the “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund”. It runs throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31st March) until the money is exhausted.

Mauchline Holy Fair Committee are extremely thankful for the funds received from Cunninghame Housing Association for the Holy Fair Event. It allows us to continue with the tradition of the Holy Fair, maintaining links to the past and engaging everyone. We aim to move the Holy Fair into the future.

The generosity shown by Cunninghame Housing Association shows their true interest in being involved in areas that they work in. They very much living up to their motto of being “More than just a Landlord
