Collective Architecture was commissioned by Cunninghame Housing Association in 2018 to develop proposals for a brownfield site north of Lockerbie town centre, previously home to Lockerbie Academy.
The aim of the brief was to develop a variety of house types and sizes to cater for the broad requirements of the local community. Prior to the Lockerbie Academy development, no new social housing nor housing for varying needs had been built in Lockerbie since the 1980s.
The design incorporates 45 new homes for social rent with a mix of semi-detached and terraced two-storey housing and three wheelchair-adapted properties alongside cottage flats and amenity bungalows.
