Property
To Rent
The Property Services Department has a range of services for tenants. These services are: advice on rent payments, arrears recovery, estate management, allocations, day to day repairs, cyclical and planned maintenance.
We have a mix of home types from traditional tenement flats to newly-built houses. These are throughout North and East Ayrshire and Dumfries and Galloway. We aim to give safe, secure, energy-efficient homes, where people will want to live.

North Ayrshire
If you’re applying for housing in North Ayrshire, your application will be managed through the North Ayrshire Housing Register (NAHR).
This is a joint partnership between:
- Cunninghame Housing Association
- North Ayrshire Council
- Riverside Scotland
- Ayrshire North Community Housing Organisation (ANCHO)
All housing is allocated through a shared policy, making the process fair and consistent across all partners.

East Ayrshire
In East Ayrshire, we use the SEARCH housing register, which works in the same way. This partnership includes:
- Cunninghame Housing Association
- East Ayrshire Council
- Irvine Housing Association
- Shire Housing Association
- Atrium Homes

Dumfries & Galloway
We’ve recently started developing new homes to rent in Dumfries & Galloway. Housing applications here are managed through a common register, in partnership with:
- Cunninghame Housing Association
- Home in Scotland
- Riverside Scotland
- Dumfries & Galloway Housing Partnership
The Homes for D&G Policy:
For housing options and homelessness in Dumfries & Galloway please see:

We offer housing that meets a range of needs, including:
-
Amenity homes (suitable for older people or those with reduced mobility)
-
Adapted properties for wheelchair users or people with mobility challenges
If you think you need this type of housing, please apply using the transfer system mentioned above.
In some cases, we may need a community care assessment from social services to support your application. If this is needed, we’ll involve you in the process and ask for your permission before going ahead.
A mutual exchange is when two or more tenants agree to swap homes with each other.
-
You and the person you’re swapping with each complete a mutual exchange application.
-
We’ll process your application within 28 days and keep you updated on its progress.
-
We’ll check that the swap meets our allocation policy (or the North Ayrshire Housing Register policy if applicable) and the policies of any other landlords involved.
-
If the swap is approved, we’ll agree on a moving date.
-
You’ll each sign new tenancy agreements with your new landlord and make arrangements to move.
-
You must get permission before moving – a property inspection will be carried out as part of the process.
-
You’ll take the new home as it is at the time of the swap.
-
We don’t get involved in exchanging keys – this is something you’ll agree with the other tenant.
-
A mutual exchange will end your current tenancy and start a new tenancy at your new address.
If you’ve found someone to swap with, please complete the North Ayrshire Mutual Exchange form below.
(Each tenant involved must complete their own form.)
