Social Security Scotland Update

There’s coming changes to benefits delivered by Social Security Scotland, from end August 2022 the Adult Disability Payment will go live which is replacing Personal Independence Payment and Disability Living Allowance. This means that individuals already receiving ongoing awards of Personal Independence Payment or Disability Living Allowance do not need to apply for Adult Disability Payment.

Their awards will be transferred automatically to the new Scottish system from end August 2022, with no break in entitlement or payment.

Social Security Scotland have delayed the introduction of Pension Age Disability Payment (PADP) in light of the continuing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Pension Age Disability payment is replacing Attendance Allowance.

When PADP becomes available, the process should be similar to Adult Disability Payment, meaning no need for a new claim if already receiving (AA), no break in entitlement or payment.
