On Wednesday 25th May 2022 both Frank Sweeney, Group Chief Executive and John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £600 to Shelia Chalmers, Secretary, Marcia Lothian, Chairperson and Christina Brown, Treasurer of The Cunninghame Flower Club. 

The Cunninghame Flower Club is run by a voluntary committee. The Club meet every third Friday between September and May and is open to all in the local community. They provide workshops and demonstrations on all aspects of floral art. They hold Club competitions and members compete at local and national flower shows. The Club also provides arrangements for the Ayrshire Hospices’ Annual Ball. Hands on sessions are also provided to local voluntary groups, clubs and care homes on request. 

2020 was the Cunninghame Flower Club’s 45th year (Sapphire) anniversary however due to covid they were unable to celebrate the occasion, however they are now able to celebrate 2 years later. The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association will assist with the financial costs involved in holding such a celebration. The Club fell it is important to recognise the achievements of all Club members, past, present and future and celebrate the Club continuing especially after obstacles such as the pandemic. 

“We are thrilled to be able to provide financial assistance to this voluntary group who welcome everyone from the local community, providing people with the chance to learn a new skill, whilst supporting local charities such as the Ayrshire Hospice.”

The funding for the Cunninghame Flower Club came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April to 31st March) until the allocated funding is exhausted.
