Nearly 1 million people have applied for Universal Credit in the past fortnight as the Coronavirus pandemic has wosened. With such a huge increase in UC applications, there are pressures on DWP and other seervices working flat our to get people the support they need.
For those who have applied for Universal Credit, please bear in mind that DWP may need to contact you to clarify or verify information to progress your claim. They are experiencing issues where claimants are not answering telephone calls from DWP, as some of these calls may come through from a witheld number. If it is not DWP or someone else you need to speak to, then you can always hang up.
If you need to report a change in your circumstances or speak to your work coach, the best way to do this is through your journal.
