Housing investment has always had a big impact on communities and sometimes we do not fully appreciate what the levels of Housing Investment in New Build Housing can achieve. For example, during the next 4 Financial Years the Scottish Government & Dumfries and Galloway Council will be investing around £70 million within the Region and this will provide hundreds of new additional affordable homes for applicants on the Common Housing Register. As a Registered Social Landlord, and a Development Partner of Dumfries & Galloway Council, we will continue to deliver our successful partnership with them over this period.

Our ability to deliver in Dumfries & Galloway has been made possible by the support we have received from our strategic partners, local councillors and MSP’s in all the wards we have and are working in.”

FRANK SWEENEY, Group Chief Executive, Cunninghame Housing Association

This site at Hallmeadow will provide high quality homes within walking distance of the train station and local schools, enabling residents to easily access the services they need on a day to day basis. We are all well aware of the spiralling living costs being experienced due to rising fuel and energy bills, plus growing demand through services like Homelessness and Housing Options. Building on the scale seen here, will ease some of this pressure on around 130 families, significantly improving their living conditions.
Like the Council, Cunninghame have shown their clear commitment to creating new jobs and apprenticeships, providing opportunities to access well paid, secure work. Employment and affordable accommodation go a long way to retaining working age people in, and attracting them to, our region. We know they are growing their own staff base within the region, but also securing new jobs in the construction sector. I would like to thank Cunninghame Housing Association. They have shown their commitment to supporting Council objectives, through this development in Annan, and others in Lockerbie and Gretna, through the provision of much needed affordable housing. I look forward to seeing more developments like this come forward.”

Cllr ARCHIE DRYBURGH MBE Housing Convener, Dumfries & Galloway Council

The CHA Hallmeadow site commenced on site on 6th July 2020 and will deliver a total of 130 new homes with 69 properties already having been handed over to date and works scheduled for completion in October this year. The housing mix comprises a mixture of two and three bedroom general needs houses, as well as 8 bungalows designed for amenity use and 5 wheelchair designed bungalows. Working in partnership with Homes4 D&G, all properties are being allocated to applicants selected from the Common Housing Register.

The development at Hallmeadow will see us taking handover of the 300th new home that Cunninghame Housing Association has provided since coming into the Region five years ago, with the 300th new tenant Michelle Scaife receiving her keys today. Today is about celebrating this milestone in our activity since coming into the Region in 2017. Michelle received her keys on 3 March 2022 and she has recently moved in with her family and we wish them every good wish in their new home”
