Child Disability Payment

Child Disability Payment is replacing Disability Living Allowance for children in Scotland

Social Security Scotland has started the move of the first Disability Living Allowance for Children awards to Child Disability Payment.

The first to change will be those about to turn 16, under 18, and young people with a fatal illness.

People will be moved gradually from now until spring to make sure awards are managed safely and securely. Those staying with awards will move from spring 2022.

Those receiving Disability Living Allowance for children will have their award moved over to Child Disability Payment. They will not need to apply or be assessed again.

This means you will receive the payment from Social Security Scotland instead of the DWP.

Social Security Scotland will write to you before the change and will tell you when the move is done. It will take about three to four months to move someone’s award.

People will get the same amount of money, paid to the same account as they get their payment.
