On Monday 1st November 2021 John Kelly, Chairperson of Cunninghame Housing Association presented a cheque for £1,000 to Kieran Walker, a young gymnast from Dalry, as part of a 3-year sponsorship.

Kieran is 15 years of age and has been a gymnast for over 10 years, currently training 3 times a week after school at Inverclyde in Largs as well as taking part in many competitions across the UK and further afield. Kieran is part of a Team which have become Scottish Champions, first competing in 2019.

Kieran’s Gymnast Team have been selected to join Team GB for this year’s European Championships which are being held in Portugal from 1st December – 5th December 2021. The funding provided by Cunninghame Housing Association will enable Kieran to attend the European Championships and be part of Team GB, covering all of the costs involved, from travel to accommodation. The Sponsorship will assist with future costs, taking away some of the financial burden, whilst allowing Kieran to achieve his goals and enjoy something that he loves to do.

The funding for Kieran came from the Associations “Making Our Communities a Better Place Fund” which operates throughout the year (1st April 2021 to 31st March 2022) until the allocated funding is exhausted.

the support the CHA Board of Management has given Kieran over the next 3 years is amazing and will help greatly. Kieran had a great experience at the British Championships held in Stoke-on-Trent in October. He is focused on training and preparation for European Championships in Portugal. Next year is going to be an exciting time with Covid restrictions lifting and more travel and competitions being planned
